Police Report: Man Arrested for Super Drunk Driving

These reports are from Saline Police Department records from March 5-13. Arrests do not indicate confiction.

A Saline man could be charged under the “super drunk” law following his arrest March 11, according to records.

A preliminary breathalyzer test on the 50-year-old man showed a blood alcohol content of .24, three times the legal limit and over the .17 threshold that triggers the super drunk laws. Two breathalyzer tests failed. The man agreed to a blood test at St. Joseph Hospital in Saline.

Saline Police arrested the man who lives on Golfview Drive during a traffic stop on East Bennett Street at approximately 9:30 p.m. Police were tipped off about a Dodge Caravan driving slow and “back and forth” on Michigan Avenue, according to the report.. Saline Police spotted a matching vehicle and began following as it turned on to Ann Arbor Street, driving below the speed limit, according to the report. Police observed the vehicle drifting out of its lane and stopped the vehicle on Bennett Street, according to the report. The driver told police he had not been drinking and blamed his erratic driving on talking on the phone, according to the report. Police conducted field sobriety tests. A preliminary breathalyzer test showed a blood alcohol content of .24, three times the legal limit and over the .17 threshold that triggers the super drunk laws. Two breathalyzer tests failed. The vehicle was impounded by America One Towing.

Saline Man Faces Multiple Driving Charges

A 22-year-old Saline man was arrested on charges of driving with a suspended license, driving with open intoxicants, and an outstanding warrant on March 10, according to Saline Police records.

At about 9:30 p.m., police spotted an eastbound Jeep SUV in the left-hand through lane. Without signaling, the vehicle cut across the right turn lane and in to River Oaks Boulevard, according to the report.

Police stopped the vehicle near River Oaks Boulevard and Valley Circle Drive. A records check showed the driver’s license was suspended and a warrant out of Ypsilanti. He was arrested and transported to the Saline Police Department for processing. Police found a half-full bottle of Bacardi Rum under the front passenger seat. America One Towing impounded the vehicle.

The driver was ticketed and released.

Ypsilanti Man Arrested After Breathalyzer Test

A 31-year old Ypsilanti man was arrested on charges of operating under the influence at about 3 a.m. March 10, according to Saline Police Department records. Saline Police clocked a vehicle going 60 miles per hour on Maple Road, where the speed limit is 35 miles per hour, according to the report. After field sobriety tests, a preliminary breathalyzer test showed a blood alcohol content of .200, according the report. He was arrested and transported to the Saline Police Department. A Datamaster  breathalyzer test showed a blood alcohol content of .22. The legal limit is .08. The case was forwarded to the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s office.

Marijuana Confiscated and Destroyed

Saline Police confiscated and destroyed 12 paper bags of marijuana found in a storage area at Six Trails apartments March 8.

The manager of the apartments said told police that maintenance workers found a box containing 12 bags of marijuana in a storage unit. Police later spoke with a 55-year-old tenant who owned the marijuana.  The tenant produced a medical marijuana card. Police told the man they could not return the marijuana to him, based on the opinion of the city attorney, according to the report.

Police Say Woman Drove with Suspended License

A 35-year-old Ypsilanti woman was arrested and faces charges of driving with a suspended license and an outstanding traffic warrant out of Dearborn Heights approximately 9 a.m. March 13.

Saline Police were behind a vehicle traveling westbound on Michigan Avenue near Maple Road. When the vehicle stopped at a red light, police ran the vehicle’s plate. The registered owner came back with a suspended license and a traffic warrant, according to the report.. Police pulled the vehicle over and the driver was arrested for driving with a suspended license and the warrant. She was transported to the Saline Police Department and then turned over to Dearborn Heights Police, according to the report. Her vehicle was impounded by America One Towing and her driver’s license was confiscated and destroyed. The report was forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for charges.
