Lockout Turns to Lockup

A Tipton man who called for help with his locked vehicle was arrested on an outstanding warrant at 7:30 p.m., June 5. Police were dispatched to 7700 E. Michigan Ave. for a lockout. They learned the vehicle’s owner was wanted in Lenawee County for failing to appear for hard labor, according to the report. He was arrested and turned over to Lenawee County Sheriff’s deputies near Clinton.

A 36-year-old Ann Arbor man was arrested on charges related to narcotic violations shortly before 3 p.m. June 7, according to Saline Police records.

Police were patrolling on Woodland Drive near Ann Arbor Street when they saw a 1996 Subaru being driven by a driver not wearing a seatbelt, according to the report. The vehicle was stopped and the driver could not produce registration and insurance and the plates expired in September 2011.  Police had the vehicle impounded. During a search of the vehicle, police found a small bag with what appeared to be marijuana, according to the report. During a search of the suspect, police retrieved a small plastic bag of what appeared to be marijuana from the suspect’s pocket. He was arrested and processed at Saline Police Department before being released.

Police also confiscated two pipes found in the vehicle.

The report is being forwarded to the prosecutor for charges.

Parking Lot Hit and Run Reported

A witness reported a hit-and-run crash in the parking lot of Snap Fitness June 6 at about 8:45 p.m. A 37-year-old Milan man exited Snap Fitness and found his 2012 Ford Pickup damaged. A witness told police he was driving through the lot when he saw a younger, blonde female back out of a parking space and into the victim’s truck. The witness said the woman was driving a dirty, older, green Jeep Cherokee. The witness said the woman struck the vehicle with the back left corner of her jeep and drove away. Saline Police issued a be-on-the-lookout alert but the vehicle was not found.

Bike Stolen from Liberty School

A 19-year-old Saline man told police that his bicycle was stolen from Liberty School. The man told police he left his bike leaning on the fence near the athletic field at 6 p.m. May 25, and that it was gone when he arrived to recover the bike May 26. He told police he believed he locked the bike. The bike was described as a 21-speed giant men’s mountain bike worth $400.
