Suspect flees scene of vehicle crash
On Sept. 22, police pulled behind a vehicle involved in a crash while responding to an accident report.
A woman reported a vehicle hit her and then took off. Witnesses confirmed the woman’s story, and told police they witnessed a man hit the woman, pull over and check his vehicle for damage and then take off.
A Saline Police Officer went in search of, and found the described vehicle at a nearby residence. A man answered the door, and summoned his roommate who he said drove the vehicle in question, according to police. After questioning the suspect, who smelled of intoxicants, the man was arrested for operating under the influence of an intoxicant, the report stated.
Man arrested on illegal firearm possession charges
After a routine traffic stop on Sept. 28, police said a driver informed them that he was in possession of four guns.
The driver told the officer where the guns were located and that they were not loaded. After further investigation it was discovered that the man had been transporting the guns for a family member that was under investigation for drugs, police said. The officer seized the guns and the driver was ticketed for concealed weapon/firearm in auto, he was arrested and his car was impounded.
Saline Police are still investigating the incident.
Man arrested on failure to pay child support charges
After running a man's name through Law Enforcement Information Network (LEIN) on Sept. 19, Saline police arrested a man wanted on two warrants. One warrant was for failure to appear and the other was neglecting to pay child support.
Store owner claims suspect stole from business
Saline Police said a business owner reported a theft from his store on September 21st. The owner told police that a man came into the shop and went over to an area containing expensive cigars. The store owner told police the man had tried to distract him, and appeared very nervous. Security tapes have been reviewed, and an investigation is underway.
