Police Report: Man Arrested on Charges of Super Drunk Driving After St. Paddy's

 A 26-year-old Saline man was arrested on charges of driving while “super drunk” at 1 a.m. March 18, according to records. Police pulled over an eastbound vehicle on Michigan Avenue near Moon Road for drifting in its lane, according to the report.

The driver, who was wearing a shamrock bead necklace and who had green dye  all over his hands and arms, had watery and bloodshot eyes, according to the report. After field sobriety tests, a preliminary breathalyzer test showed a blood alcohol content of .08, more than twice the legal limit and more than the .17 threshold to be considered “super drunk.” A breathalyzer test showed a blood alcohol content of .21 and .20, according to police, more than twice the legal limit of .08. The man was arrested and taken to Saline Police Department where he was fingerprinted and photographed and then released after sobering up, according to the report. Charges are pending.

Ypsilanti Teen Ticketed for Littering

A 17-year-old Ypsilanti boy was ticketed for littering after throwing a Styrofoam box full of onion rings from his Pontiac Grand Am March 13. A Saline Police officer was parked at Busch’s when he saw the boy roll down his window and dump the Styrofoam box  on to the parking lot before driving away, according to the report. Police followed and pulled the vehicle over into ACO parking lot.

Police issued the ticket and then accompanied him back to where the trash was dumped, where they watched the boy clean up the mess before releasing him at the scene, according to the report.

Saline Woman Ticketed for Misusing Handicap Plate

A 34-year-old Saline woman was ticketed for using someone else’s handicap plate to park in a handicap spot, according to a police report. On March 13, police saw a GMC Safari van parked in the handicap spot in front of Dollar General. Police ran the plate and it returned belonging to a 55-year-old woman from Adrian. The woman who came back to the vehicle appeared much younger, the report said, so the officer approached the vehicle, according to police. The driver said she borrowed the vehicle from her mother, according to the report. She was ticketed for misuse of a handicap plate.

Saline Business Swindled

A Saline business was swindled out of $20 by a woman asking to exchange four $10 bills for two $20 bills, according to a police report. On March 16, at about 5:40 p.m., a woman entered Capital Cleaners and asked to exchange the four $10 bills for two $20 bills, according to police records. The clerk did so. The woman turned away and then turned back and said the clerk gave her a $20 bill and $1 bill instead of two $20 bills. The clerk took the $1 bill and gave her a $20 bill. The woman left the store. The clerk felt something was amiss and counted the cash in the register, discovering he was short $20, according to records.

The woman is described as 5 feet tall and about 110 pounds, white, and her late 40s or early 50s. She was wearing a light blue shirt and blue Capri pants. She got into a small blue car. The clerk said he had never seen the woman before, according to police.

Downtown Resident Reports Break-in

A downtown Saline resident returned to his apartment March 13 and when he opened his door, it fell off, according to a police report.

The 50-year-old resident, who lives on the 100 block of East Michigan Avenue, arrived home just before midnight, according to the report. The trim also fell off and the door jam was damaged. The man told police that he did not believe anything was taken, according to the report

Clinton Man Arrested for Driving Suspended

A 30-year-old Clinton man was arrested on charges of driving with a suspended license March 19, according to police records. Police stopped 2009 Pontiac G3 for speeding southbound on Ann Arbor Street, according to the report. The driver told police his license was suspended, according to the report. He was arrested and taken to Saline Police Department for processing before being released. The two children in the backseat of his vehicle were turned over to family.

Southfield Man Arrested on Warrants

A 36-year-old Southfield man was arrested on outstanding warrants after being stopped for speeding on North Ann Arbor Street Match 19. Police clocked the driver going 46 miles per hour in a 30 miles per hour zone, according to police. A records check showed warrants out of Ypsilanti for contempt of court and a traffic violation, according to the report. He was arrested and turned over to Ypsilanti Police at a gas station near U.S. 23, according to the report. The vehicle was impounded.
