Police Report: Saline Teen Driver Arrested on Suspicion of Consuming Marijuana

The following police report is based on Saline Police Department records from Dec. 13-18. Arrests do not imply convictions.

A 17-year-old Saline male was arrested by Saturday night on suspicion of possessing marijuana, according to a police report.

Police were parked at Domino’s Pizza watching for speeders when they spotted a westbound old model Geo with an object hanging on its rear view mirror, according to the report. When the car turned on North Maple, police followed and enacted a traffic stop, the report said. Detecting the smell of marijuana, police asked the driver if he had consumed any. The driver said he had, according to the report. Police confiscated a clear plastic bag containing a green leafy substance, which was sent to the Michigan State Police lab for analysis, according to the report. Charges are pending.

Ypsilanti Man Arrested With Marijuana at Traffic Stop

Police have forwarded a warrant request to the Washtenaw Prosecuting Attorney’s office after arresting a 31-year-old Ypsilanti man during a traffic stop Saturday night.

Police stopped a 1995 Chevy pickup with a defective headlight at the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Sage Court about 9 p.m. Police discovered the man was driving with a suspended license and wanted on warrants out of Washtenaw County and Westland., according to the report. During a search of the vehicle, police discovered a glass pipe containing what police believe was residue of marijuana, and also found a sandwich bag containing a green, leafy substance they believe was marijuana, according to the report.

The man was turned over to the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s department on the outstanding warrants. His vehicle was impounded. He was arrested on charges of consuming marijuana and driving with a suspended license.

Adrian Man Arrested on Warrant During Stop

An Adrian man was arrested on several warrants out of Lenawee County and an Adrian woman was cited for driving with a suspended license early Saturday morning.

Just after 1 a.m., police stopped a 2006 Chevy Classic with a defective taillight at Michigan Avenue and Hopper Street. The driver, a 29-year-old woman, was cited for driving with a suspended license, according to the report. Police discovered the passenger, a 21-year-old man, was wanted on felony warrants for selling cocaine and failing to appear in court, according to the report. He was transported to the Clinton Police Department where Adrian Police took custody.

Police impounded the vehicle. The woman refused police offers’ offer to take her back to the department to wait for a ride.

Saline Man Arrest for Drunk Driving

A 52-year-old Saline man was arrested about 1 a.m. Saturday on charges of operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Police made a traffic stop after watching a 1998 Ford pickup weaving in its lane and striking a curb on South Ann Arbor Street. A preliminary breathalyzer test showed a blood alcohol content of .15 and a chemical test showed blood alcohol content of .17, according to the report. The legal limit is .08. He was arrested and processed and held until sober, according to the report.. His truck was impounded.

Woman Reports Car Keyed

A woman at Six Trails apartments told police that someone keyed her car. She said she parked it at 6:35 p.m. Dec. 14. When she went back at 8 a.m. the next day, both doors on the driver’s side were scratched.

The Sign Said Pumping, Not Dumping

Police are investigated a dumping complaint on the 400 block of Exeter Court on Dec. 15. A city employee told police that someone dumped several tires at the pumping station property.

Ypsilanti Man Arrested For Driving With Suspended License

A 44-year-old Ypsilanti man was arrested on a second count of driving with a suspended license on Dec. 14. Police stopped a vehicle with no license plate at Michigan Avenue and Industrial Drive about 11 p.m. A check showed the driver was operating with a suspended license, according to the report. He was arrested, processed and released. The vehicle was turned over to a valid driver.

Satellite Dish Damaged

Police believe a man who lost his televisions service was the victim of malicious destruction of property. A 35-year-old Clark Street man lost his satellite television service about 9 a.m. Dec. 13. At the company’s request, the man inspected the dish and noticed damage to the tip of the transmitter. Because the dish was not exposed to natural elements, police believe the damage was malicious in nature, according to the report.
