Mysterious Playground Pooper All Pooped Out

A digital billboard campaign that urged Michiganders to do their "civic doody" and help "flush" out "poopetrator" apparently worked.

A peculiar mystery that started in the dead of winter with the discovery of piles of human excrement on playground equipment at a popular southeast Michigan picnicking park has come to an end.

The foul behavior has been “corrected,” Ypsilanti police said Wednesday, according to a report in the Detroit Free Press. The slides at Prospect Park playground are once again safe to be used for their intended purpose.

A local marketing company offered its digital billboard space for a public awareness campaign urging motroists to do their “civic doody” and help authorities “flush” out the so-called “poopetrator.”

The #ypsipooper hash tag recommended in the campaign apparently worked, and police identified a “person of interest” shortly after cleverly messaged campaign was launched.

Police said in a statement Wednesday that they had a stern talk with a “person of interest” in the case, but lacked “enough substantiated information to conclude that this subject has done anything wrong.”
