"We want to let everyone know that as he always did, Ian battled right up to the final buzzer, but he lost at 7:54 this morning. He will be missed. We thank everyone for everything they have done over the past few days."

According to a statement issued by Chief Jeffrey Lewis, police responded to the 1300 block of Eisenhower Lane after receiving a call that someone had fallen from the bed of a pickup truck. Jennings was immediately transported from the scene of the crash to the University of Michigan Hospital, Ann Arbor, where he was admitted for his injuries.

The crash is under investigation by the Milan Police Department. Once the investigation is complete it will be sent to the Washtenaw County Prosecutor's Office for a review and possible charges, according to the statement.

Jenkins was considered one of the best goaltending prospects in the country. He was recently drafted in the second round of the Ontario Hockey League draft by the London Knights just two weeks ago.

"It's awesome coming to London. It was the top place I wanted to play," he told the London Free Press. "I fully expect to come in there and play 10, 15 games and maybe a few more if I can show I can do it and learn from Michael Houser."
