Downtown Saline Businesses Robbed

Cash and merchandise was stolen from four downtown merchants.

are investigating a series of break-ins at four downtown businesses last night.

In each case, entrance was gained by smashing a back entrance to the building.

"It's not much fun to come to work and clean up the mess and try to figure out what has been stolen," said Bob Rash, co-owner of Mac's. "Nobody likes the feeling of violation that comes with something like this."

Rash said that it was the first break-in he can remember.

"(Co-owner) Wally (MacNeil) was on the phone with Chief (Bunten) today telling him he picked a bad week to retire," Rash said. "So we're keeping a sense of humor about it."

Saline Police detective Don Lupi said the break-ins are under investigation.
