David Miles Niethammer, Father of 6, Served the USAF in Vietnam

A private memorial was held June 2.

David Miles Niethammer, of Ovid, Michigan. passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at his home with his family by his side. He was 64.

David was born June 18, 1947 in Saline, Michigan, the son of Leonard Miles and Verna Pauline (Clevidence) Niethammer. He grew up in Saline and enjoyed spending every summer at the family vacation home at Heart Lake near Gaylord, Michigan. David graduated from Saline High School, Class of 1966. He joined the United States Air Force and served in Vietnam. David was a Journeyman Electrician and retired from Lear Manufacturing.

David is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Donna, daughter, Lycia (Paul) Heidepriem of Oxford, North Carolina, daughter, Amy (Brett) Boies of Saline, Michigan, son, Doug (Betsy) Niethammer of Aurora, North Carolina, son Mike (Jeannie) Wagonlander of White Lake, Michigan, daughter, Laura (Andrew) Wagonlander-Kartsounes of Fenton, Michigan, ten grandchildren, brother, Douglas (Karen) Niethammer of Mesa, Arizona, sister, Marilyn (Bill) Glaze of Saline, Michigan and several nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his mother and father.

A private memorial service was held on June 2, 2012. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the caring staff at the Veterans Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan and the hospice caregivers at this home. Memorials may be made to the Palliative Care Team at the Ann Arbor Veterans Hospital or Great Lakes Caring Hospice.
