Now Showing at My Favorite Café: Canavan²

Visit My Favorite Café to see Canavan², the recent works of Jean and Meghan Canavan. A reception will be held at the café on Sunday, December 16, from 3 to 5pm.

During the months of November and December, be sure to stop by My Favorite Café in Saline to see the works of Jean and Meghan Canavan. This mother-daughter show is featuring the recent watercolor works of Jean Canavan, and recent photography and mixed media works of Meghan.

Through her watercolors--a variety of landscapes from Saline and her summer travels--Jean aims to capture everyday moments. Jean's cool palette, soft realism style, and emphasis on lighting within her watercolors convey more than beautiful imagery; they emit a certain feeling. During her travels, Jean keeps a travel journal as a constant companion, and enjoys translating her smaller works and ideas from her journal into large watercolors. Jean teaches both watercolor and travel journal at Two Twelve Arts Center.

Meghan's photography reflects her aspiration to capture the beauty of the world around her. Whether it is a gorgeous Utah landscape or a rusty license plate, Meghan hopes to bring her images to life for the viewer by emphasizing otherwise overlooked details. Taking her photos to the next level, Meghan has enjoyed experimenting with mixed media processes and combining her photography with other mediums to further enhance her concepts. Many of her photographs are from her recent cross-country road-trip from Saline to Burbank, CA, that she took with her sister, Katie.
