Artist Reception This Friday: Val Mann Recent Works

May and June Artist of the Month Reception will be held this Friday, May 4, from 7 to 9pm. Don't miss your opportunity to meet the featured artist, Val Mann, and view her recent works.

Friday, May 4, from 7 to 9pm is our May and June Artist of the Month Reception. Valerie Mann is the featured artist, with an exhibit entitled "Val Mann Recent Works." The reception takes place at Two Twelve Arts Center, is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be served.

Val's work has been shown professionally throughout the U.S., Canada and Germany for 23 years. She has a BFA in painting from the University of Illinois and an MFA in sculpture from Michigan State University. Val has taught students of all ages, from Kindergarten to adult, and plans to teach this summer at Two Twelve. As a mother of two, Val enjoys all things outdoors, especially hiking, biking and camping. She even home-schooled her kids for a year by driving across the U.S., camping and visiting 9 National Parks. In her artist biography, Val notes that "the change in geography and in the details of nature, and the human effort to make the landscape accessible had a profound effect on me and my art."

Val's recent works on display at Two Twelve explore line, color and texture through mixed-media encaustic studies of vintage sewing patterns, simple color studies of birds and plants, and 3D contour drawings of birds. Don't miss your opportunity to meet Val at the reception and view her unique and interesting works.
