SAP holds auditions for "Silent Night: The Real(ish) Story"

In what has become a tradition, the Saline Area Players are once again gearing up for their holiday show at Stone Arch Arts and Events.  This will be the fifth year that SAP has presented a show there, the same weekend as the traditional holiday parade.  It’s become a yearly event for area families.  This year’s play is entitled “Silent Night:  The Real(ish) Story.”

Kara Cardella wrote and is directing this original play based on the true story of how the beloved Christmas carol, “Silent Night,” was written.  Kara is beloved by the actors, is very creative and upbeat, and has directed 3 of the 4 holiday shows we’ve performed.  The story will be filled with embellishments, and will include a young priest, an Austrian village, and an accidentally damaged organ.  Be prepared for colorful characters and favorite holiday tunes.

Auditions will consist of singing a familiar Christmas carol, theater games, and cold readings from the script. Those auditioning do not need to prepare anything prior to the auditions and are invited to come to one of the two audition nights (Oct  14 or 15).  Be prepared to move and try new things. Actors of all ages are invited to audition and they do not necessarily have to be the exact ages specified.

More information is available on the website, www.salineareaplayers.org.  There you can find an audition packet, which includes character descriptions, and an audition form.  Any additional questions should be sent to silentnight@salineareaplayers.org
