ReStrung: Hats and Horses Tour 2012

Summary of the Fiddlers Restrung tour 2012.

In all of the rush and excitement to be off on our tour of the wild, wild west, our posts have had a bit of a late start. We are off once again.

Today we are leaving Fargo, North Dakota. Last night, we performed at the Bluestem Theater.

Let's backtrack a little... 7 a.m. Wednesday morning. 18 groggy kids rolled onto the bus with violins, violas, cellos, mandolins, guitars, basses, keyboards, and Beary, our life-sized mascot. Also on the bus are 6 bins of food (half gone by now) and 24 cases of water (we are now calling it our "Hats, Horses, and Heat Wave Tour).

Thanks to our excellent bus driver Josh, we arrived promptly in beautiful St. Joseph, overlooking Lake Michigan, for our first gig. We had great audience participation, including many children clapping and dancing around. Once we were done performing, we had enough time to walk down the pier and across the beach, run through the play fountains, and cool off with ice cream. We spent the night in a hotel in Freeport, Illinois.

Bright and early the next day we headed to Minnesota. We had two days full of jam sessions with fellow music students, performances, and best of all...Mall of America!! We went to the Mill City Museum and learned about the way that Minneapolis became the flour(ishing) city that it is today.

That's all for now. We will be posting frequently from now on -- many upcoming exciting events and entertaining stories -- so keep an eye out for that. Also look out for a "Good Morning, Saline" video by us in a very "monumental location". What we learned at Bluestem Theater: "When your dog runs away, you can see it running for three days."
