Scouting for Girl Scouts

Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan is inviting all girls in our 34-county service area to visit one of our Regional Centers to find out what they've been missing out on.

WHY GIRL SCOUTS?  WHY NOT?

Every stage in a girl’s life challenges her to make the right decisions.

Without support from positive role models these decisions aren’t always easy.

For 100 years our organization has been a source for the support girls need to grow into successful women who raise families, create meaningful careers, and lead others. This is why we are known as the premier leadership organization for girls.

As we embark on our annual major membership effort – Join Girl Scouts Week, Oct. 1-5 – we are looking to adults in our community who are willing to volunteer their time and talents to help us with our mission to build girls of courage, confidence and character who will make the world a better place.  At the same time we are looking for girls in our community who want to learn skills which will prepare them for future leadership roles in their professional and personal lives.

We are already hard at work preparing for our next 100 years of making a positive difference in the lives of girls and the adults they hold in high esteem.  We are developing easier ways for everyone to be involved which includes offering troop meetings that work with your schedule.

We recognize that adults and girls are more time-challenged then ever, however this should not be a barrier to your willingness to become involved with our organization. There is no one-size-fits-all troop experience. You can meet for six weeks, six months or six years – it’s whatever works for you.

The programs and services we offer are designed to offer the best possible scouting and volunteer outcome regardless of the time commitment.  There are opportunities to work on community service projects which will positively impact the lives of our friends and neighbors who need a hand.

There are travel opportunities locally, statewide, nationally and internationally.  And along the way you and the girls will be able to enjoy some of the best camping experiences available; participate in GSHOM-sponsored events; and create some of your own adventures.

The good times, memories and friendships created will last a lifetime and more importantly position the girls to get a headstart on any higher learning opportunities they may seek out.  Our work doesn’t end when the girls begin middle school or high school and our Bronze, Silver and Gold awards are proof of that.

A great deal of time and effort goes into earning these awards which often lead to college scholarships for the girls who earn them.

Our alumnae base in the 34-county region we serve offers undeniable proof of the powerful impact Girl Scouting has made in theirlives.  The majority of them have sought out higher education and they represent a broad cross section of business executives, political leaders, social activists and stay-at-home moms.

They are all women of strength and character who lead.  We are dedicated to growing future generations of these women and are counting on you to help us.

So here’s the question:
Why Girl Scouts?  Why not?
