Residents, Businesses Asked to Help Beautify Downtown With Flower Baskets

The Be Bloomin' flower baskets and boxes will start arriving downtown on Thursday, May 24.

Local business owners and residents can help downtown Saline bloom this season.

Be Bloomin' is a fundraising campaign to help purchase flowers and plants for the hanging baskets and ground planters in Downtown Saline for the 2012 Spring/Summer season. The campaign is sponsored by the Saline Main Street program and the City of Saline. The flower baskets and boxes will start arriving downtown on Thursday, May 24.

People can help beautify Downtown Saline by sponsoring flowers/plantings for a hanging basket or planter box for $75. People can sponsor in their name or in the name of a loved one, a memorial, business, or group, etc.  A plaque will be created and placed on the light pole or planter box with the designation.

To sponsor, go to the www.salinemainstreet.org website and click on the 'donate' button on the Be Bloomin’ page. Saline Main Street will send a confirmation of your sponsorship and request information for the plaque. A sponsor sign will be placed in a Downtown window and your name will be included on a list of sponsors on the website.

People may also donate by writing a check made payable to the Saline Main Street and mail to: Saline Main Street, P. O. Box 44, Saline, MI, 48176. Be sure to write 'Be Bloomin' in the memo area and include contact information for the plaque.

In order to reach the goal this year, Saline Main Street will need to raise a total of $6,300 for the flower plantings which will help plant a total of 44 hanging baskets on the 22 light poles and 40 sidewalk planter boxes.
