Part-time Au Pairs
The US Department of State created the Educare program for families with school aged children or other families that are looking for only part-time care. Educare Au Pairs cannot care for children who require full-time care unless other child care arrangements are in place during the time the Au Pair will not work. An Educare Au Pair can work up to 30 hours per week and they must complete 12 hours of academic credits. The total cost of an Educare Au Pair averages out to $292.19 per week. Full Time Au Pairs
The Standard full-time Au Pair program is the most popular. It was originally designed with the intension of offering a cultural child care option for families needing full time care. A Standard full time Au Pair can work a maximum of 45 hours per week and they must complete 6 academic credits. The total cost of a full time Au Pair averages out to $343.21 per week. Regardless of whether a family needs less than 30 hours per week or up to 45 hours per week, an Au Pair initially comes for one year but can extend for an additional 6, 9, or 12 months if mutually agreed.
