BUSCH'S FRESH FOOD MARKET SEASON OF SHARING FOOD DRIVE TO HELP FOOD GATHERERS FEED LOCAL FAMILIES

WHAT:            Busch’s Fresh Food Market will help feed the hungry in its Season of Sharing holiday food drive, kicking off November 18 and continuing through November 27.

 

A family-owned market chain, the Busch family has held these drives for more than 20 years. Four of the Busch’s metro Detroit area locations will be dedicating donations to Food Gatherers (listed below).

GIVE:              1. Customers can purchase pre-made “Ready to Go” food donation bags filled with items to be given to a family in need. Customers are asked to donate $10 for each bag. They can also drop off non-perishable food in the Food Drive bin located in each store.

                        2. Customers can make a contribution of any amount at the Busch’s checkout registers. Dollars go directly to Food Gatherers.

 

                        3. Customers will be able to purchase $5 gift cards for produce and $10 gift cards for meats. Gift card purchases will be converted into produce and meat donations to Food Gatherers at the value of the total amount of gift card purchases.

 

                        4. Customers can donate their bottle return slips. Dollars go directly to Food Gatherers.

 

WHY:              Access to “rescued” and donated food makes the difference for friends, families and neighbors struggling to maintain their bills and provide food to their families. Food Gatherers is working to enable members of the community to stay in their homes and manage their way through the economic crisis by providing nutritious and wholesome food. It’s through these donations Food Gatherers is able to carry on its mission.

Food Gatherers is the food rescue program and food bank for Washtenaw County. Annually, Food Gatherers distributes more than 5.5 million pounds of food to 150 non-profit programs serving 44,000 low-income adults, seniors and children. Food Gatherers provides direct service through Food Gatherers Community Kitchen and Job Training Program located in the Robert J. Delonis Center in downtown Ann Arbor.
