The Running Institute Mile

This invitational is sponsored by Michigan Rehabilitation Specialists’ The Running Institute, located in Ann Arbor and Northville, and organized by 2008 Olympic silver medalist in the 1500 meters and Ann Arbor resident Nick Willis.  Willis will be using this race as his final tune-up for the International Associates of Athletic Federations (IAAF) World Championships in Moscow, Russia. Nick currently trains at The Running Institute with the legendary University of Michigan and Olympic coach Ron Warhurst.

A world-class field, including eight sub-four-minute milers, will be attempting to run the fastest mile in the state of Michigan at The Running Institute Mile event on August 4 at the Saline High School track. The current record is 3 minutes, 55 seconds, held by former Michigan Wolverine and two-time Olympian, Kevin Sullivan.

It’s rare that a field of this caliber is assembled in Michigan.  All are invited to witness world-class competition.  Runners will take to track at 7 p.m. for warm-ups and the event will start at 8 p.m.  Come on out for the most trilling four-minute running event in Michigan.
