AUDITION INFORMATION

Actors are asked to sing 16 bars from any classic Broadway musical written before 1965.  An accompanist will be provided.  Cold readings from the script will also be requested.

The Drowsy Chaperone is both a witty modern comedy and a vibrant homage to Broadway musicals of the 1920’s.  A play within a play within a play, the show revolves around a lonely man in an apartment who lives vicariously as he listens to the soundtrack of a madcap musical, and comments on the lives of the actors who played the parts. The cast, who represent every stock character you would expect, sing and dance through vaudeville comedy, tangoes, tap, torch songs and even a blindfolded roller skating number. The show celebrates everything we love about musicals.

Rating PG.
