Saline Area Historical Society's Christmas on the Farm

Want a new experience this holiday season? Step
back in time to the 1930s to experience Christmas on the Rentschler Farm
The annual event, hosted by volunteers from the Saline Area Historical Society,
takes place on Saturday, December 14 from 12pm to 5 pm, and Sunday, December 15
from 1pm to 4 pm. The Rentschler Farm is located at 1265 E. Michigan Ave in
Saline near Industrial Drive.

Christmas time in the 1930s was certainly
different from today. Decorations will be simple, and natural. The kitchen will
smell of delicious, traditional German baked recipes. Guides throughout the
house will tell visitors about Christmastimes of old.

Featured in the parlor is a live Christmas tree
with genuine 1930s ornaments and in the dining room and kitchen, light
refreshments.

Admission is by donation.

The museum gift shop will also be open, giving
visitors a chance to look for unusual Christmas gifts while they visit. Inside
you’ll find local history books, small gifts, and whimsical stocking stuffers.
Included in the offerings are several local history books.

This is also your last time to take a tour of
the farm as it will close for the winter after this event.

And if you have time, you can travel down the
road to 402 N. Ann Arbor St. to The Railroad Depot Museum, which will be open
from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday.
