Weekend Planner: It's Time for Harvest of the Arts and Oktoberfest

The 7th Annual Harvest of the Arts/Oktoberfest expands to two days this year.

There is so much going on in Saline this weekend with the festival, that we wanted to make sure you don’t miss a beat, bead, beer or brat! Here are a few highlights…but there will also be live music throughout the festival, a quilt show, puppetry festival, electric vehicle display, sculpture dedication, culinary arts, firefighters' chili, and Farmer’s Market! 1.  Oktoberfest Bier Garten

When/Where: 5 to 11 p.m. Friday on South Ann Arbor Street in downtown Saline.

Why Go: Food, Bier Garten and music all night, featuring Polka Riot and the Frankenmuth Schuhplattelers.

Cost: Food, Beer and Wine prices vary and benefit the Saline Historic Downtown Alliance's Route 12 To Mainstreet campaign.

2.  Volksmarch 5K/10K Walk

When /Where: Starting at 9 a.m. and finishing up at 3 p.m. Saturday this self-paced walk through downtown and historic Saline starts on South Ann Arbor Street.

Why Go: It's a family-friendly walk on sidewalks. Dogs must be on leashes, and scooped up after. 

Cost: Free. To qualify for awards and credit, charges are $3 to $5.

3.  Kinderplatz!

When/Where: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday on South Ann Arbor Street.

Why Go: Kinderplatz offers inflatable bouncers, crafts, cookies, and pony rides!

Cost: Free.

4.   Harvest of the Arts Art Fair

When/Where: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on North Ann Arbor Street.

Why Go: The art fair features 50 fine artists offering jewelry, hand bags, watercolor, photography, books, chees boards, wood items, calligraphy, quilts, prints, soap, silks, fudge, dolls, glass, baskets, gourds, illustrations, knits, clay, canes, toys and more.

Cost: What your shopping budget allows.

5. Sunday Brunch at Brecon Grille

When/Where: 9 a.m. to noon Sunday at Brecon Grille, 101 W. Michigan Ave. in downtown Saline.

Why Go:  Brecon Grille offers a variety of brunch items.
