Weekend Planner: Arts, Derby, Luau and Remembrance

Friday night is full of action while Sunday is for reflection.



When/Where: 7-9 p.m., Friday. at 216 W. Michigan Ave.

Why Go: Mingle with artist Kathe Suddendorf as she kicks off her month-long show entitled “Odyssey of Art” featuring works done in colored pencil, watercolor and acrylics.

Cost: Free.

2.  Saline Hornet Football

When/Where: 7 p.m., Friday at  Ypsilanti-Lincoln High, 8970 Whittaker Rd.

Why Go: Support the Saline High School Hornet Varsity Football team as they take on the team from Ypsilanti-Lincoln.

Cost:  $5

3. 3rd Annual Mac's Tailgate Party

When/Where: Starting at 6 p.m. Friday at , in the heart of downtown Saline.

Why Go: This is the third annual tailgating party at Mac's. Outside seating will be expanded. Guests can buy from the regular menu, or dine on the pulled pork sandwiches and New England-style lobster roll sandiwches served outside. Labatts Blue are $2. The Dan Rafferty Band is playing until 11 p.m.

Cost: No cover.

4.  Hawaiian Luau Night

When/Where: Friday night at , 103 E. Michigan Ave., in downtown Saline.

Why Go: Keep summer alive with a Hawaiian Luau! 

Cost: No cover

5.  September 11th Ten Year Special Ceremony

When/Where: 9:30 a.m., Sunday, at the , 6201 Michigan Ave. in Ann Arbor.


Why Go: Join your community to honor the fallen of Sept. 11, 2001, in recognition of the ten year anniversary.

Cost: Free.
