ViewFinder: Honoring American Sacrifice

Residents attended the parade downtown and ceremonies at the cemetery and American Legion Post.

Saline observed Memorial Day with a parade and ceremonies at Oakwood Cemetery and the American Legion Post 322.

Residents applauded veterans as they marched down Michigan Avenue along the parade route to the cemetery. The parade was also highlighted by performances given by the Saline High School and Saline Middle School marching bands. 

At the cemetery, Brigadier General Richard Miller was the guest speaker.

Dozens of people then gathered at the American Legion Post 322 for the Veteran's Memorial Rededication Ceremony. Remarks were made by past post commander Bob Kwiecinski, incoming commander Tim Driscoll and guest speaker Betty Flanders, who read the famous World War I poem, In Flanders Field.
