VIDEO: Saline Firefighters Cook Up Fun at Summerfest

After spending all morning flipping pancakes and serving breakfast, the Saline Area Firefighters traded in their spatulas for tongs and went to work at the Saline Firehouse Chicken Grill at Saline Summerfest Saturday.

In all, the firefighters grilled 1,000 chickens for the dinner. The birds were cooked on a new one-tonne grill designed and manufactured by Assistant Fire Chief Charles Schaible.

Proceeds go to the Friends of the Saline Area Fire Department, which has raised $11,000 toward the purchase of a new all-terrain-vehicle for the department.
