Two Ceremonies Planned to Mark 10th Anniversary of 9/11

Pittsfield Township and the City of Saline are inviting the public to remember the terrorist attacks that shook the nation a decade ago.

Pittsfield Township and the City of Saline have scheduled events to mark the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on America.

In Saline, the public is invited to , where people will recognize the anniversary by participating in the national moment of remembrance at 1 p.m. The ceremony begins at 12:55 p.m. Upon completion, the public is invited to visit the , which is displaying a 9/11 memorial called

The art memorial, a partnership between the fire department and Saline Area Schools Art Department, was created with the help of several hundred members of the community. They contributed by writing the names of the 343 emergency responders who died in New York City that day. Children also contributed with hand prints that were added to the memorial to create the stars and stripes of the American flag.

Pittsfield Township will be conducting a flag raising ceremony to pay tribute to the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001. 

The ceremony will take place at the , 6201 W. Michigan Ave., and will start at approximately 9:30 a.m. in front of the flag pole.
