Spring Craft Show Returns Saturday

The annual Saline Spring Craft Show is at Saline Middle School from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

More than 135 vendors from Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio will be selling their handcrafted work from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Admission is $2.

Crafters’ wares will include seasonal decorating décor, baskets, jewelry, tole painting, folk art, quilting, primitives, stained glass, floral, ceramics, clothing (children’s and adult), wood, toys, silk and dried flowers, candles and furniture.

Ann Arbor-based artist Kelley Faley, owner of WhimZDesigns, said she was excited about the craft show as she set up Friday.

"I love doing the craft shows. They are so much fun. People are really nice. Everyone is in a happy mood. The energy is electric. It's just a great day," said Faley, who adds a lot of color to the Saline Craft Show with her her printed mangnetic bookmarks, original artwork clocks and matted prints. "Of all the spring shows each year, this is probably the busiest. It has the best selection of arts and crafts. There will be people lined up to get in before the doors open."

All of these products are designed, made and displayed by the individual crafters. Many of these items are selected through the jurying process. Artists will be present and available to customize and personalize their works.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the craft show offers several activities for children, including free caricatures, cookie decorating, arts and crafts and pictures with Peter Cottontail.

There craft show also features full concessions in the cafeteria.

In addition, Saline Community Education and the show are sponsoring a “Spring Gift Basket Contest.” Local groups and individuals were invited to prepare a food basket for any meal to be donated to and Aid in Milan. Entries will be voted on at the show by craft show attendees, with people voting with money left in the baskets. All baskets and proceeds from the contest will be donated to Saline Social Services and Aid in Milan.
