Happy Monday! Here are five things you should know about Saline today.

1. The Weather

So, 86 degrees isn't exactly cool. But with low humidity, it's going to feel downright comfortable out there today—at least compared to what we felt last week. Can we say the heat wave is over? The relief may not last long. The temperature is expected to rise to 89 Tuesday and be above 90 again by Thursday.

2. Relay For Life

You'll be hearing a lot more about Saline's first Relay for Life event in the coming days. The 24-hour event runs from 10 a.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday. The official website can be found here. You can also support the event on Facebook.

3. New Boys Hoops Coach

Saline High School Athletic Director Rob White reported Matt Seidl has been hired as boys' varsity basketball coach. He replaces Jay Plitzuweit. White said Seidl has 30 seasons of varsity coaching experience. Read more at the new Saline Hornets page.

4. Firefighter Update

A reader asked about the conditions of two Saline firefighters injured battling a blaze last week. Chief Craig Hoeft reports that he can't reveal much now, but he did say that one firefighter suffered extensive injuries and will be off duty for "some time." Another firefighter suffered minor burns and was treated and released. For more on the fire, check out this report on AnnArbor.com.

5. Pittsfield Considers Master Plan, Costco Request

The Pittsfield Township board meets at noon Tuesday to consider a resolution authorizing the board to adopt the master plan and have the second reading of the zoning amendment to pave the way for a Costo off Ellsworth Road near the airport.
