New Saline Fair Event Allows Patrons to Learn More About Ag

Ag Day at the Saline Fair features a new event this year. Taste of Agriculture will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 4.  The first 400 attendees will receive Taste of Agriculture tickets that can be redeemed at various food stands throughout the fairgrounds. Children who compete all stations will have their name put in a drawing for a new bike, donated by Elliot’s Amusements. The winner must be present when the drawing is done at 2:30 p.m. The event will also feature education on topics ranging from animal care to crop production. Several demonstrations are also planned. Fairgoers will also be able to meet the farmers, who are the backbone of the exhibits at the fair. For more on the fair, visit www.salinefair.org.

Township Rock is a Sign Post

Saline Reporter journalist Amy Bell reported about the history of the popular rock on Jim Marion’s property at U.S. 12 near Marion. People have been painting messages on the rock for nearly 25 years.
