The Saline Newcomers Club meets at First United Methodist Church of Saline, 1200 N. Ann Arbor St., from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday. The club has about 80 members, many who recently moved to the area from out of town.

Art Department, Fire Department Team Up For 9/11 Memorial

The Saline Area Schools Art Department and  are working on a public memorial commemorating the 10th anniversary of 9/11. The memorial will be displayed outside the Saline Firehouse. The public is asked to help complete the art at two upcoming events. At Saturday's Farmers Market, held from 8 a.m. to noon in downtown Saline, the public will be asked to help write the names for the 343 firefighters whose lives were lost on 9/11. On Tuesday, Aug. 30, from noon to 4 p.m., students will be asked to stop by the Saline Area Schools Merchant Barn at the Saline Community Fair, where they will be asked to contribute hand prints over the names of the firefighters. Today's Good Morning Saline greeting was given by Laurie Stoianowski and a group of her students at Dance Steps Studio, which celebrated its grand opening after moving to its new location at 740 Woodland Dr.
