Get Out: Five Things To Do This Weekend

This weekend offers summer heat, treats and dancing in the streets



When/Where:  Thursday, June 30 on South Ann Arbor Street, just south of Michigan Ave. in downtowns Saline.  Music starts at 7 p.m.

Why Go:  Dance in the streets to “Remedy,” a rock and roll band playing classic hits from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. Also, Art On the Go from Two Twelve Arts Center will be on site with fun activities for the kids.

Cost: Free.

2. 

When/Where:  11 a.m., Thursday, at the Saline District Library, 555 N. Maple Rd. in Saline.  

Why Go: Books come to life in Acting Up Theatre. Great fun for the kids.  Recommended for ages 4 and up.

Cost: Free.

3.  First Saturday Contra

When/Where:  8-11 p.m., Saturday, 3337 Ann Arbor Saline Rd.

Why Go:  Open to the public!  Learn traditional Contra Dancing, beginners welcome.  Great fun and learning without the high cost of a dance studio. Down to earth fun!  Flat shoes with smooth soles recommended.

Cost: $10

4.  Hudson Mills Fireworks

When/Where:  Hudson Mills Metro Park, 8801 N. Territorial Rd. near Dexter. Big Pinky Band starts at 7 p.m. Gates close at 9 p.m. Fireworks at dusk.

Why Go: Many Salinians will be found at the Hudson Mills Metro Park for all day family activities, live music and a mega fireworks display.

Cost: Daily Park Pass is $5

5. 

Where/When: Saline has great ice cream locations open this summer.

Why Go: Need fabulous ice cream to beat the summer heat this weekend?  Or for the perfect ending to a holiday picnic? Find ice cream at Mickey’s Dairy Twist on the West side, on the East side, and three locations Downtown including Mickey’s Downtown,  The Drowsy Parrot and .
