Five Things You Need to Know About the Saline Craft Show

The Saline Craft Show takes place from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 12 at Saline Middle School.

The 25th Saline Craft Show takes place at Saturday, Nov. 12, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Here are five things you need to know:

1. Admission to the craft show is $3. Once in the show, accepted forms of payment vary from artist to artist. They all accept cash and many accept checks or charge cards.

2. Parking is limited, so park and ride to the craft show. A free shuttle bus is running from the on Michigan Avenue as well as from other schools on central campus.

3. The first Saline Craft show was held Nov. 14, 1987 with 66 craft booths and a concession stand that featured a crock pot of soup and some hot dogs. There were about 900 shoppers. Today's show features 234 booths, full concessions, a bakesale, raffle and more. Attendance could reach 10,000.

4. The Saline Craft Show is a juried show. What does that mean to you? It means you can count on high quality workmanship, creativity and originality. If you're doing your holiday shopping and you are looking for something that can't be found in any big box store in any metropolitan area in the U.S., the Saline Craft Show might be the place for you.

5. Throughout the show, students representing various organizations of Saline High School will be present at a concession stand, bake sale and other activities. The youth groups involved have the opportunity to promote citizenship, practice life skills and leadership, as well as earn money for organized school events. This show benefits many in Saline Area Schools community, including the cross country teams, FCCLA, the swim and dive teams, the Foundation of Saline Area Schools, choral groups, para-professionals, and the baseball and track and field teams.
