City Moves 'Alley Project' Forward with Lease Agreements
The pacts with local restaurant owners will allow for development of the space behind their establishments, through Saline's Main Street program.
Saline city officials have moved forward a project to transform a downtown alley into a new community gathering place, by approving lease agreements with two restaurant owners and Saline Main Street, according to a Thursday story in The Saline Reporter.
Saline Patch reported in August that Main Street program manager Kelly Idzikowski told city officials Brecon Grille and Mangiamo’s had agreed to lease the alley for a small fee. With those agreements in place, the restaurants will allow use of their portions of the alley for public events.
The Saline Post's report indicated those events could include "a wine tasting, art gallery or pet adoption" and quoted Design Team Chair Rebecca Schneider as saying, “Our alley is not that dilapidated, we’re fortunate. It just requires a few tweaks.”
