City, County and State Leaders to Answer Questions at Senior Conference

City, county and state government officials will be on hand to explain issues and answer questions at the Senior Conference 2012 held Feb. 24 at the

The event, which begins at 10:30 a.m., is free and open to the public. A complimentary lunch will be served after the program.

The event is being organized by Saline City Counci member Brian Marl and the Saline Senior Center.

The forum  will focus on local and state government activities and their subsequent impact on the Saline community. 

Presentations will be made by Saline City Manager Todd Campbell, Clerk Dianne Hill and Assessor Catherine Scull. Also attending the event are State Rep. Mark Ouimet, Washtenaw County Commissioner Alicia Ping and Washtenaw County Sheriff Jerry Clayton, who will make special remarks.

The event is being billed as an opportunity learn more about property assessing, hardship exemptions, the Oakwood Cemetery expansion, absentee voting, and programs sponsored by the city to reduce the cost of prescription drugs for seniors and provide insurance policies for water mains and sewer lines. 

Marl said the event is geared towards anyone in the community ages 55 and up.
