Advance Urgent Care Clinic Opens in Saline

With clinics in Livingston and Oakland counties, the Saline location is the first Advance Urgent Care location in Washtenaw County.

Have an ailment that doesn’t require a trip to the E.R., but can’t get in to see your doctor?

That’s where urgent care fits in.

Advance Urgent Care and Walk-in Clinic opened earlier this week at 140 South Industrial Drive, in the office park off Michigan Avenue. The Saline Area Chamber of Commerce held a small ceremony during the grand opening celebration Wednesday. The clinic opens not after Access Med clinic, at 250 E. Michigan Ave., closed it doors.

The company is owned by Dr. Nasir Ali.

“Urgent care is in the middle of the road. It’s for people who feel sick, but aren’t sick enough to go to the emergency room, and can’t get in to see their doctor,” said Ali.

Similarly, co-pays are middle of the road, between what patients would pay at their doctor and what they would pay at the hospital.

The new Saline clinic is the first in Washtenaw County for the company, which also has offices in Brighton, Hartland, Howell and South Lyon.

“We are happy to be in Saline. It seems as if this area needs the services we provide,” Ali said.

The clinic is a full-service, state-of-the-art medical facility that features on site digital radiological and lab services.

“One of the things we can do is take digital x-rays and then give them to the patient on a disk, and they can take them to their primary care physician,” said Dawn Cashen, who handles reception and marketing for Advance Urgent Care.

The clinic features a trauma room where injuries are treated by one of the clinic’s several doctors and nurses. An exam room features an electrocardiography monitor and breathing treatment equipment.

The clinic is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week and features a rotation of doctors and staff. Ali said there will always be a doctor, medical assistant and receptionist on duty during business hours.

Advance Urgent Care provides services for employers, such as Department of Transportation tests, pre-employment physicals and drug screening. The clinic also provides immigration physicals.

Other services include sports physicals and flu shots, offered for $29 and $25, respectively.

Dr. Ali began moved to the urgent care business after working for years in the emergency room in the thumb. Ali, who is quick to tell a joke, followed the footsteps of his father, who was a physician in India. He entered the medical field as a rheumatologist, inspired by the doctor who treated his mother’s arthritis.
