Friday night, more than 700 people packed the Saline Middle School auditorium for the annual Schools of Rock event. Teachers, support staff, administrators and students performed in a high-energy air jam that left many in the audience hoarse from screaming. for the Foundation for Saline Area Schools "Kids Who Read Succeed" campaign. The foundaton is raising $70,000 to help the district purchase comprehensive classroom libraries that will help teachers work with students at their specific level, and provide a more diverse and attractive reading selection for students.

Movember Final Tally

The month of November is over and many teachers at Salne High School are pleased to be clean shaven once again. The Saline Mo Squad raised $9,229 for men's health issues during the mustachioed month.

District to Explain Tougher Educational Standards

Saline Area Schools is hosting a forum at 6:30 p.m. tonight to discuss the ramifications of the state's “Common Core Standards” in mathematics and language arts. These new standards are going to be more rigorous than current standards, with the idea that they will help parents and teachers hold children to higher expectations and set them on the path to college and career readiness.
