Congrats to the Saline Crew Program

On the surface, forking over $50,000 doesn't sound appealing. But the Crew Board will present a check for $50,000 today to the Ypsilanti Township Board. The money will be used to create a boathouse on Ford Lake. The Saline high school team will share the 5,500-square-foot boathouse with the Eastern Michigan University crew team. The boathouse is a collaborative effort including Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti Township, Saline Crew and Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation. The partners will contribute up to 63 percent of the proposed cost for the first phase of the program, which has an estimated cost of $1.3 million.

Toys for Tots Program Needs A Boost

Chief Craig Hoeft noted that donations to the local Toys for Tots program are down a little bit this year. Hoeft is asking residents to drop off unwrapped toys at the Saline Area Fire Department, at the corner of Harris Street and Michigan Avenue., this week. The department and friends will wrap the toys and deliver them to Saline Area Social Service for their holiday care baskets.
