What's For Lunch, Saline? | Feb 27, 2012

Each day, we ask Saline area restaurant owners what they are serving for lunch.

Today we launch "What's For Lunch, Saline?" a new feature that's designed to connect hungry readers with local restaurants and their food.

This isn't a news article. This is just one of the ways we're using Saline Patch to make life ridiculously easy for our readers and business owners. It might take a little while to catch on. But we hope it does. Because we know what it's like when you're wondering about the lunch special or soup of the day at 11 a.m.  Why call every restaurant in town when you can get it all in one click of the mouse?

In the article, we ask, what's for lunch. And in the comments section, restaurant owners can tell us what their special is today.

Restaurants should tell us what they're serving and include a price.

Downtown Diner is a perfect spot for lunch in Saline. Located in (unfortunately) a hidden spot near the back entrance of the Saline Chamber of Commerce. It is worth finding. Meghan and Jeff are the current operators. Meghan cooks while Jeff hosts and makes sure everyone is happy. And happy we are with Meghan's fabulous cooking. The service is efficient and friendly. Today's waitress was Meghan's daughter who was proud to hear our exclamations of YUM as we savored the perfect meatloaf lunch. I have also ordered the pulled pork sandwich, turkey club and chicken tenderloin sandwich. All served with crispy potato skins and all perfectly cooked and flavored to perfection. Prices are reasonable. The parking is adjacent to the restaurant. Everyone should try this fledgling restaurant you will keep coming back.

Thanks for the nice comments Margie! The Downtown Diner is featuring our Pasta Salads this week as well as other vegetarian and fish entrees over Lent. St. Patrick's day is right around the corner so watch for our Corned Beef and Cabbage Sandwich! It is YUMMY!
