Spotted Dog Voted Number One Winery at Great Lakes Wine Festival

The festival featured about 60 breweries and wineries from the Midwest.

, located in Downtown Saline, proudly announced it was voted the number one winery at the 3rd Annual Great Lakes Wine Festival held at Michigan International Speedway on May 19.

The festival featured about 60 breweries and wineries from the Midwest, with over 4,000 people in attendance.

"It's kind of neat because the last couple of years we attended, we were told we had the best selling wine. But this time they actually gave us a trophy," said John Olsen, owner of the Spotted Dog Winery. "It shows that people like our wines and we appreciate our fans."

Olsen said the Great Lakes Wine Festival is a terrific event.

"It's a great time. Every year it's gotten a little bigger and better," Olsen said.

Since 2003 Spotted Dog Winery has been producing wines in their Downtown Saline location. Spotted Dog is an urban winery which means the business is not attached to a specific vineyard. This enables the winery to source wine grapes from any appellation in the world, giving the winemaker the ability to produce a broad selection of varietals.

The Spotted Dog makes a fine wine. My wife goes nuts for the coco noir!

I wish John and his staff all the best as they continue to produce wines which people enjoy when they come to Saline.
