Readers' Choice: Saline Flowerland Picked as Favorite Florist

In the closest voting contest yet, Saline Flowerland outpolled , 37-35. a close third with 33 votes.

Saline Flowerland, 7370 E. Michigan Ave., also received points in our tabulation because of the rating .

Saline Flowerland has been making weddings more beautiful and Mother's Day more colorful for 35 years in their location.

Customer Janet Thompson said Saline Flowerland made a here life-long fan 30 years ago, when her daughter was to be married 30 years ago, but the bride couldn't find the right veil — until they went to Flowerland.

"Flowerland was there. The veil with a crown of flowers to match her bouquet (was) just beautiful!" said Janet Thompson, who was happy to have the opportunity to thank Saline Flowerland. "I am so happy for this occasion to say 'thank you' a thousand times over Peggy, Johnny and family for taking such good care of my family and me, And especially for being here in our beautiful Saline! You bring smiles, you wipe away tears, you make the table so beautiful, Yes! You're number one! No doubt about it!"

Saline Flowerland is owned by Sue Wisniewski and Peg and John Long.
Wisniewski said she was pleased to be chosen as Saline's favorite florist.

"It's wonderful. We strive to provide the best customer service and that's been our top priority for 35 years," Wisniewski said. "They key is to listen to customers and to determine what they need. Step number one is to find out the occasion and then find out their favorite colors and then take it from there."
Saline Flowerland offers more than cut flowers.

Saline Flowerland and Greenhouses is a family-owned business that sells plants, flowers and greenery items that are grown on-site. Delivery of floral arrangements for funerals, weddings, holiday parties, Mother's Day and other occasions are available.

Mary Hess said she finds Saline Flowerland to be helpful.

"John and Peg have always been helpful with questions about garden plants. They also do a great job on the flower boxes and hanging baskets up town for the city. As a family and a business they have given so much to our community," said Hess.

Maureen's Designs, located on South Ann Arbor Street, also has it's share of fans. Merrill Dudley described why she chose Maureen's.

"(It's a) small intimate setting with a great selection of fresh flowers and a finishing touch of a smile and good cheer from Maureen," Dudley said.
