Advertising Firm Does its 'Civic Doody' to help 'Flush Out' the #YPSIpooper

With the Ypsilanti playground "poopetrator" still on the loose, a Michigan advertising company is using its digital billboard to help find whoever is responsible for the hot steaming messes on children's slides.

It’s a dirty (and stinky) job, but someone had to do it.

That someone is Adams Outdoor Advertising, which is offering public service messages on a digital billboard along I-94 hoping to flush out the individual Ypsilanti police politely call a “miscreant” and almost everyone else calls words we prefer not to use on Patch.

The advertising company’s general manager, Todd McWilliams, told WJBK, Channel 2, that he hopes the billboard messages will help “clean up” the mess being caused by the so-called “playground pooper” who has been using slides at Ypsilanti’s Prospect Park as a toilet.

The digital billboard, located near South Huron Street Exit 183, cycles through slogans such as “help us catch the poopetrator,” “do your civic doody and report the pooper,” and “help us flush out the pooper.”

Each of the message is followed by the hashtag #ypsipooper.

Ypsilanti police discovered earlier this year that feces had repeatedly been left on the slides. They’ve set up a video surveillance hoping get the straight skinny on whoever is responsible for the steaming hot mess that greets early-morning park users.

“We have a problem in Prospect Park with a miscreant that does not understand the difference between a children’s playground slide and a toilet,” Ypsilanti Police Chief Tony DiGuisti advised officers in an email earlier this year. “Apparently this extremely misguided individual feels the need to defecate on the slide despite the cold weather.”

With the arrival of spring, when the slides and other playground equipment get greater use, Ypsilanti officials are determined to stop the foul activity.
