Susan Tells Her RydeOn!! Cycling Classes: “Keep Trying!”

When Susan tells her RydeOn! indoor cycling students that the secret to getting and staying fit is to “Keep trying!,” she's speaking from experience. Susan herself eventually became a fitness instructor   because her instructor suggested it after seeing how dedicated Susan was to coming to class every week.

In 1995, after she had been attending indoor cycling classes herself for a few years, “I decided to be an instructor as a way to continue my fitness goals and to help others achieve theirs,” Susan remembered. She's been at it ever since, joining RydeOn! when the studio opened in October 2011.

“To improve your overall fitness level you just need to keep moving,” Susan said.  “Finding something you enjoy doing will keep you going and keep you moving.  If you get sidetracked and can’t make it [to a class or two], don’t just give up.  Get back on track and get back to moving. Don’t beat yourself up, keep trying. This has to be a lifestyle, a healthy lifestyle!”

Susan is also no stranger to the challenge of staying fit in the midst of a very busy life. Between her four children (all athletes themselves) and a vacation rental business that requires her to make frequent trips to Florida, Susan still makes regular exercise a priority and plays soccer, runs, and enjoys other sports as well.

When it comes to her work at RydeOn!, Susan said that she loves the equipment and the atmosphere.

“RydeOn!’s equipment is top of the line! I have ridden and taught on many indoor bikes but none as nice as these. I get a much better workout on the Keiser bike than any other bike I have ridden.  They are so smooth, you can focus on your workout and not on fighting with your bike. I also love the environment  at RydeOn! – it's a totally friendly, helpful and motivating place. There aren't any judgments; anyone can come and feel welcome, no matter their fitness level, because we're all here for the same reason – to get in a great workout and improve our physical and mental health.”

Susan is deeply in tune with the students who come to her Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday classes and works hard to “gear” her classes to them. “I try to create a challenging class for the most fit client – while making it clear that everyone is encouraged to modify the Ryde for their own needs and goals.  I try to make it fun and exciting by combining climbing, jumping, standing and sprinting in the same workout, and play music from all different genres to keep it fun and exciting,” she explained.

“Everyone has different fitness levels and goals,” Susan added. “and RydeOn! is a place where you can reach and exceed your expectations for your fitness level. You can improve both your physical and mental health, which in turn will improve all aspects of your life. RydeOn! indoor cycling classes can help people reach heights they never thought they could!”

Susan rocks out at RydeOn! On Mondays at 4:30 pm and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8 am. Click here to enjoy a class with her, and have a fantastic summer!
