Ready to Shop? Black Friday is Coming
This long holiday weekend is sure to be a shopper's delight, whether you choose to wait in line in the dark or get your sleep and shop locally.
For the most die-hard of Black Friday shopper, only the midnight hour will do.
There will always be a big-box retailer to open extra early, even though you may have to drive a few miles. Targets all over the place are opening at midnight and going for 23 hours straight. Many Kohl's stores are going for 24-hour runs — 12 a.m.-12 a.m. And of course, there's Walmart, which won't be closing at all on Thanksgiving and transitioning right into Black Friday.
If the mad crush of midnight shoppers is a turn-off, there are other options, including shopping locally.

Shops such as Pineapple House offer Christmas home decor, Mark Roberts fairies, silk greens and Vera Bradley items — and plenty more. Check out Patch's feature here. The Bling Thing, has all kinds of "girlfriend" goodies, such as high-heel wine bottle holders, feather wreaths, trees and falls. (Feathers are hot this year, FYI.) Patch paid them a visit recently. Take a look here.
Larry Osterling, executive director of the Saline Area Chamber of Commerce, says a lot of local retailers will have specials. Some shops had special open houses the weekend of Nov. 4-6, getting a leg up on all the hurly burly. Others just choose to stand apart from big-box retailers, focusing on unique products and more tailored service.
