Animal Adopt-A-Thon Set for April 28

The Humane Society of Huron Valley will hold its first ever Adopt-A-Thon as the shelter nears its capacity.

The Humane Society of Huron Valley is excited to announce our first ever "Spring Adopt-a-thon" to be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at HSHV.

HSHV will be open from 9 a.m. to midnight during this mega-adoption event.

"This time of the year is when our facility reaches capacity as kittens start entering in large quantities. In order to make room for all the other homeless pets that need shelter, we are hoping to find new forever homes for 150 pets in this one single day," said Deb Kern, HSHV Marketing Director. "Besides all of our animals, there will also be additional pets here from selected rescues looking for homes as well."

There is a lot planned on this day:

  • Low adoption fees on all adoptable animals
  • Enjoy the Lucy Ann Lance Radio Show live at HSHV on Saturday morning
  • Door-buster giveaways and late-night prizes
  • Entertainment from local musicians
  • Educational sessions on pet-care, volunteering, animal rescue, and animal wellness
  • Dog training/tricks demonstrations
  • Prizes awarded every hour
  • Free snacks and beverages
  • Kids activities and fun for the whole family

“Showing families that pet adoption is fun and fulfilling is also one of the goals of this event,” said Renee Benell, HSHV Adoptions and Customer Service Manager. “So many old perceptions exist around shelters and we want people to see that HSHV is not like any other pet adoption center they have visited. Our staff is knowledgeable and friendly and our adoptable animals are wonderful companions ready to find caring homes.”
