Here are 5 things you need to know about Dec. 1, 2011.

1. The Weather

Weather.com is calling for some cloud cover early, but mostly sunny skies through the day with a high of 38. Sunrise is at 7:44 and sunset is at 5:04.  Snow might make an appearance late into the night.

2. Opening Night for the Saline Area Players

The Saline Area Players are showing Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer starting today at 7 p.m. at Stone Arch Arts and Events. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students and seniors; they will be available at the door, or can be purchased at Busch’s and Maureen’s Designs. 

3. Saline’s Fire Department is Collecting Toys for Tots

The Saline Fire Department, in collaboration with the U.S. Marines, is collecting unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots. They are accepting drop-offs anytime until Christmas at the fire department.

4. Saline Tree Lighting Ceremony Takes Place Tomorrow

Saline’s annual tree lighting ceremony will be on Friday at 7 p.m. in front of Key Bank. Come help light the tree, sing some carols and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate.

5. Midnight Madness Craft and Schools of Rock Show Coming to Saline Middle School

The Saline Middle School will be holding the Midnight Madness Craft Show on Dec. 2 starting at 5 p.m. The performances start at 7:30 p.m. and all proceeds from the silent auction and Schools of Rock will benefit the Those Who Read … Succeed! Initiative of the Foundation of Saline Area Schools.
