Ann Arbor, Michigan – The Michigan Electric Auto Association and the Ecology Center along with the Sierra Club, Plug-In America, the Electric Auto Association and our other local partners and sponsors are organizing National Plug-In Day as a way to bring the attention of the media, policymakers, and the public to electric vehicles and the significant oil and emissions savings that a switch to EVs will present. National Plug-In Day will be held Sunday, September, 23, 2012 at over 62 cities across the country, with thousands of attendees expected.
In Ann Arbor and Saline, National Plug In Day will begin with a street display and ride and drive event in Saline; then a parade of EVs up M12 and State Street to Ann Arbor, then around town and down Main Street, ending up at a parking lot at the corner of Main and William, where a second street display and ride and drive event will be held.
Here is the opportunity to:
• Examine currently available plug-in EV of all kinds, plus an antique EV, and unique EV conversions
• Talk to people who drive EVs every day
• Watch the first of its kind parade of EV’s
• Take test rides/drives in a Chevy Volt, Nissan Leaf, Mitsubishi MiEV, Ford Focus, Ford Ranger, Th!nk City, electric scooters, plus unique EV conversions
• Talk to DTE, EV equipment and service providers about charging stations, plug-in kits and EV charging programs.
When: Sunday, September, 23, 2012 from 2PM to 5:30PM
Events: 2PM to 3PM - Saline street display, and ride and drive.
At the corner of South Ann Arbor Street and Michigan Ave
3PM to 4PM - EV Parade from Saline to Ann Arbor.
Up Michigan Avenue and State Street, then around downtown Ann Arbor and Main Street, to the DTE parking lot at the corner of Main and William
4PM to 5:30PM - Ann Arbor street display, and ride and drive.
