Family Science Program at Milan Public Library

Winter Family Science Program

Milan Public Library partners with the University of Michigan's Exhibit Museum of Natural History to provide a Winter Family Science Program.  Three family oriented workshops will be provided for children in kindergarten through fifth grade with an adult.  The programs will be held on Saturdays, January 8, February 12, and March 12 from 10:30 - 11:30 A.M. in the Milan Community House.  Please call 734-439-1240 or stop by the library to register.

Workshop 1: Water Wonders: What is water and what can it do? Saturday, January 8 Water is amazing; it is the only thing on this planet that can exist in all 3 states (solid, liquid and gas) under normal conditions. How is this possible? We will explore how 2 hydrogen atoms and an oxygen atom combine to make plants grow and paper clips float.

Workshop 2: Water World: Water = Life Saturday, February 12 Water is essential for all life, but different organisms use it differently. Some things have adapted to living in it. Some (like us) use it in our cells. Explore the ways water affects life on Earth.

Workshop 3: Water Wisdom Saturday, March 12 All the water on the planet is all there ever will be. We will explore ways we use water every day, and how to be more responsible stewards of this precious resource.
