Confetti and Fairies Fly This Summer at Two Twelve Arts Center

Summer camps for kids are filling up fast, but there is still room for young artists to spread their wings.

Art Confetti and Fairies are two fun-filled camps offer a burst of color and festivity for school age kids.  Both camps are available this summer at in Saline. Enrollment is open for weeklong camps in June, July and August.  The age range is 6-8 for the Fairy Camp, and ages 6-9 and 9-12 for Confetti Camp. Cost for all-day camp is $200 for the week.

Art Confetti Camp will hold three, one-week sessions. The camp in June will cover form art, July is for color, and August will feature textiles. Form includes pottery, digital photos, and wire sculpture, among others. Color is full of paper projects, pen and ink, and “mad science of color."

Textile will feature polymer clay beads, found object mosaics, and more.

All camps will tie-dye tee shirts, but each will be different so kids attending all of the camps don’t have to worry about duplicates.  In fact, Two Twelve Arts Center staff are serious about keeping kids busy with a constant flow of new projects and activities.

A lot of artists have signed up to teach at the Art Confetti Camp,” said Cindy Barnett of Two Twelve Arts.  “This keeps it new for the kids.”

Twelve different teachers will host projects and the students will rotate from project to project.  The camp is from 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and will provide snacks. Kids should plan on bringing a packed lunch.

“We all look forward to this time of year,” Barnett said. “The kids just fill this place with so much energy.”

Fairy Camp is exactly as it sounds. It is a week-long, half day camp from 9:00 a.m. to noon July 11-15. All projects will have a fairy theme and kids will end the week with a Fairy Tea Party. For families unable to commit to a week long camp, the Art on the Go van will be all around town this summer, including its first regularly scheduled appearance during each Saline Summer Music Series performance.
