ViewFinder: Curtiss Park

This week, ViewFinder turns its lens on Saline's Curtiss Park.

Saline's is described as being four parks in one. The 50-acre park, dissected by the Saline River, is often described as "four parks in one." It features athletic facilities, such as the tennis courts and baseball field. It also features picnic facilities, including a rentable pavilion, and playground equipment. Nature enthusiasts also enjoy walking wooded trails, listed on the National Trail Registry, and an observation deck overlooking the Saline River. Curtiss Park is also home to the Max Adler Interpretive Trail, which was created by Girl Scout Troop 1131 in 2005.

Even in winter — even this particularly cold, harsh winter — people enjoy the park. The park is used by hikers and cross-country skiers. And people are often spotted in their parked vehicles, just taking the beautiful surroundings.

Some of these pictures of Curtiss Park were taken on a muddy and foggy Dec. 31, during the only thaw we've seen this winter.
