VIDEO: Saline River Rises at Curtiss Park

On Saturday, the Saline River spilled over its banks at Curtiss Park.

Friday and Saturday, temperatures climbed above 40 degrees. The rising temperatures, coupled with Saturday's scattered showers, melted much of the snow that has been a nearly permanent part of the local landscape this winter.

The melting snow eventually washed into the Saline River, causing it to spill over its banks in Curtiss Park Saturday.

A rainy Saturday in early March is never going to attract many kids to play on the slide or swings, or bring many people out to relax on a riverside park bench, but Saturday's flood made the amenities inaccessible. Local birds, however, didn't seem to mind the scene.

The thaw only lasted a few hours. By Saturday night, temperatures dropped and Saline saw two inches of snow fall.

Temperatures are expected to climb above freezing Monday and into the 40s by Tuesday. The forecast calls for more rain on Wednesday.
