VIDEO: Anthem Plays as Flag Rises on New Oakwood Cemetery Flagpole

About 35 people gathered at Oakwood Cemetery Saturday morning to raise the flag on the new flagpole.

About 35 people gathered at Oakwood Cemetery Saturday morning to raise the flag up the new flagpole at Oakwood Cemetery.

The ceremony was attended by veterans from Saline and around Washtenaw County, Mayor Gretchen Driskell and city council members Dean Girbach, Linda TerHaar, David Rhoads and Brian Marl, State Rep. Mark Ouimet, and many others.

The  project was managed by veterans George Perrault, Pete Belaire and Bob Kwiecinski. Jim Robison, of Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home, wrote a check for $2,500 to pay for the new flag pole. Days after Robison’s donation, Fred Hamilton, President of K&F Electric, committed to upgrading the lighting.
